Shoe Fitting Tips

Shoe Fitting Tips

Large shoe sizes can be difficult because there seems to be no actual standard between manufacturers then on top of that you have the element of the European sizing to contend with, as if this is not enough the US sizing is different again with no exact equivalent.

The following tips will make it easy for you to get the right fit from any shoe no matter where it was made. This will also help make expensive returns unnecessary.

If you have any doubt about the size of your foot, I highly recommend you measure both feet and let me have this information. I will then keep this on file for future reference, I can then always advise if you need to go up or down a size in any particular make.

Take a tape measure around the widest part of each of your feet, this will give you a guide to the width of your foot. If you hold a firm ruler against the back of your foot and measure from that point to the end of your longest toe, measure both feet as they can vary, you will then have an accurate length. I can then size up with the shoes you have chosen. I have personally tried on all the shoes in a size 10 so if there are any anomalies, I will be able to tell you.

I have added a comment on sizing along with the shoe description if I have felt it necessary. All our shoes are a UK ‘C’ width fitting unless stated as wide fitting. UK ‘C’ fit equates approximately what the Americans refer to as US ‘B’ or ‘M’ but this can vary with different manufacturers and styles. If you require a narrow fitting shoe please call 0845 130 6728 or email sales@thetalllady.co.uk and we can help you.
