Use a protective spray to protect your shoes from water, snow, mud and spills. To apply, wipe your leather shoes with a damp cloth and follow manufacturers instruction on the protective spray can. It helps if you spray your shoes before wearing and on a regular basis thereafter.

Your shoes will last longer if you have heels and soles repaired before they have worn through.

Cleaning your shoes on a regular basis helps to keep the leather supple and in good condition. Suede benefits from a regular brush with either a special rubber or suede brush.

Fabric can be sprayed with an appropriate stain guard. Always read manufacturers instructions.

Finally, inserting shoe trees into your shoes, particularly if they have got damp will help them retain their shapes for longer.
