The long and tall of it

September 13th, 2008 by Peta | Filed under All about Shoes.

Hi everyone!  I am Peta and this is my first attempt at my very own blog. I sat musing about what to write  and what title to use. I have done a bit of blogging but never quite like this so, I scoured the internet for ideas on how to get going. The bits I managed to pick were quite clear on the procedure “be clear about the purpose, keep it short, share articles and advice, check your spelling  and last but by no mean least “what’s in for them!!! So here goes….

The purpose- I thought we could start with all your own shopping experiences with large size feet as this is very much a pet subject of mine. I would like to hear about your shopping adventures as a tall girl.  To start the ball rolling I thought we could have a competition for the best story.

I want you to share your shoe purchasing experiences with us all and the best will have £50.00 to spend on the site. Leave your story as a “comment”on this post and don’t  forget your email address please.

Keeping it short may be quite difficult for me as I usually have a lot to say!!! As I am as passionate as ever trying to find the large size shoes for us all.

I was delighted to see that Caryn Franklyn had recommended  my opaque tights in her monthly news letter. Sign up for her monthly newsletter, there is great advice on all the new trends and how to dress our different shapes and sizes. Her Ebooks are available through the link on my site, www.thetalllady.co.uk

Do join us with your ideas and comments please, I am really looking forward to hearing from you all and meanwhile enjoy shopping for your new season’s boots with The Tall Lady

Hi, I was wondering, as you say you’re passionate about large ladies shoes, if you’d be happy dealing with transgendered individuals, transvestites and transexuals in plain speak.

It’s just that it’s often difficult for members of our community to try out shoes, if only because a good many are too embarrassed to walk into a shop to try a pair for size.

But if you’d have no problem with this I’d be happy to link to your site from my “Shoes” page.

    Hi Rachel
Sorry for my tardiness in replying to your comment, I am a total nerd when it comes to this blogging lark. I am desperate for help!! I did not realise I had to manage this too!! see what I mean.
To answer your question regarding the transgendered, transvestite and transsexual community, I would be delighted to help any individual who has a problem. This was one of the reasons I set up the business in the beginning. As I am a sole trader with no employees, any enquiry would come directly to me. I have in fact got a number customers who already shop with me and come to my home to try shoes and boots. If I can help I will. Please feel free to contact me your self if you want any more details. I do believe I have an entry on Northern Concorde site.
    Looking forward to your reply

Thanks for letting me know Peta. I know of someone in the Bristol area looking for somewhere to try shoes on, and I’m sure she’ll be very pleased to know you can help - I’ll pass on your details. Thanks again.

lost what i had written–hope not submitted-! so in short–compared to ‘68 when had to wear the old scholl wooden sandals in the snow as couldn’t get shoes /boots in a 10 –things are easier these days. However i still tend to buy in every colour when the style fits !! as Peta can testify to !!–and i have a mug that says–if the shoe fits ,buy in every colour !! bought by an understanding hubby.

I certainly can testify to this Teresa and thank you for your comments. I have a Khaki Green pair to fit you too!!!!!
My hubby also understands my predicament and helped me buy the shoe business The Tall Lady ha ha!!!

I did relook at your site and only khaki size 9 available !realistically i will have to start wearing the first two colours first !!
An’other large shoe comment—must be looking to winning prize !!!
One of my businesses is fancy dress hire and i have available old heeled shoes of mine for when the men dress up as french maids/ugly sisters etc !! and just realized never used the cost against my expenses !!
Also if anyone has a pair of large ladies boots suitable for Dolly Parton !!as only worn by the men—could give a good home !!

  9. Peta | 28/05/09

Sorry Teresa, you are quite correct, forgive me I have so many pairs!!
What size do you need the Boots?? I have some western boots but will have to check the size

Thank you for your kind offer—but an ‘off the cuff’ question really to any others reading your blogs,!!! i would need white fringey type boots size about 10/11 that were ‘needing a good home’ie.basically freebies !
While Dolly Parton costume is thought amusing by most,it is only out once/twice a year.

  11. Peta | 29/05/09

Hi Teresa. I would only be able to help with black I am afraid but we could put some fringing on for you!! The blog may well reach a few others hopefully but it has not been really busy, I need some one to zhoosh it for me!!

Looking for something for going into my shoes with cutout toes to stop slipping forward through the hole !! i found ideal clear gel like things that go under the ball of the foot by scholl/boots.
I personally haven’t worn sandals with toeposts for 30 years as thinking uncomfortable !!!well you can now get clear toeposts covers to make them permanently comfortable by the same stores..

  13. Peta | 2/06/09

Wow Teresa Thanks for this, I have used the gell ball things and they were great but not seen the toe post covers. I wear this type of sandal all the time so my in between toe bits are well used to it but it can be sore when I first start after the winter so I will keep my eyes peeled and thanks for the info

Hi, my name is shannon. I am 13yrs old. I have just found this site, so I will tell my mum…she will be happy! I have size 10.5 - 11 feet. I have a lot of trouble finding shoes to fit me. I am also very tall, so getting clothes to fit me is also a problem…some advise for me would be great as it may cheer my poor mum up as she is always looking out for shoes & clothes to fit.
My sister is 10yrs old & she takes size 8.5 - 9 & mum 9 - 9.5. where did we get are genes from.??
